Exchange Student Picnic

I know I have been absent for a few days. We have been busy in so many ways and not really busy in others. Know what I mean?

Thursday we had Orientation at the High School and walked the schedule and met all of the Teachers. Then on Friday we went back when it was not crowded and walked the route from class to class again. Here is Anna in front of the school.

Saturday we had a meeting/picnic with all of the other students that are in the area for this program (ICES). There was another girl from Sweden. Her and Anna immediately hooked up and started talking in Swedish. Why is it when someone is speaking another language you automatically think they are talking about you? LOL. Here is Anna and Micaela. I am not positive about the spelling. Do they look interested in what they are hearing?

Not so much here. LOL I am sure that Anna is wondering what has she gotten into.

There were 13 students there and all of their host families as well. Anna is in the middle of the back row. There were students from Germany, Switzerland and other places that I don't remember.

They took the kids to another area and gave the parents a speech and the students got the same speech with a different slant. Basically it is, follow the rules, no back talk, the do's and don'ts, etc.

Today we had to go shopping for some more shirts and some jeans. We have most of the school supplies that she will need.

Tomorrow is the first day of school and Anna is a little nervous. Everyone that we met so far has been really nice so I don't think she has a reason to be scared. I know that doesn't help her though.

We are doing good. It is a little bit of an adjustment getting used to having a teenager in the house again. But Anna is making it easy.

What fun!! Seems like this is going to be a great experience for her and you.

How is she dealing with the impending weather?

My husband wants to host an exchange student from Italy when the kids are older.

It should be a fun year for you :)

Both of them are Swedish beauties! I can bet she is nervous. I would be too :)

She'll be fine, especially with another Swedish student to hang out with. It's great there is a group of them! Think how much she'll learn!

She is scared?? Are you kidding me? She is beautiful, a Sweedish blond, she will be a big hit at school I assure you. First day of school is scary for anyone, I hope all goes well and expect to hear an update from you soon as possible!!!!

Oh,what a little beauty she is! Is she nice, too? I think you are going to have a blast, after the initial nervousness passes. It sometimes passes through my head that it would be fun to have a teen in the house again, but then I remember it in a more realistic way. BWAHAHAHAHA! No really, it was 95% great.

This is exactly the post I was hoping for, with pix, too :). Really, it doesn't take too much to please me!

I looked at Anna's blog and all I got was: NERVOST, which I'm pretty sure is "nervous" and BLONDIES. LoL

Let us all know how it went for her. I'm so curious how she will relate to the others in her new school. Obviously my Swedish isn't so hot, reading her words won't help me much!

Glad the storm skirted your area - even though you're disappointed.
